With all the extra moisture that comes with snow (which rather quickly becomes slushy, dirty puddles) it is inevitable that most of it will be trudged into your office immediately affects your normal office cleaning routine. We, at Ace Cleaning, wanted to share with you our best tips to keep the office warm and dry, when it is wet and cold outside!
Windows
Snow and grit can make your windows extremely dirty; employees that drive to work can back this up as we all know our much windscreen wash we use in the winter months! You can save money, especially over winter by taking care of your windows. Dirt and grit, when left on your windows, over time will degrade the quality of the glass and eventually cause scratches and scours in the glass - this can attract and trap even more dirt, which makes them even harder to clean, so be sure to have a window cleaning schedule over winter and maintain your windows!
Floors
Floors are probably the most obvious areas of the office that need regular maintenance and frequent cleaning throughout the winter months. You should have mats/carpets at the entrance to your building to encourage employees to remove what they can of the snow and grit off their shoes and clothes. During winter, you must be careful and keep hard floors clean and dry so as not to tempt what could be a very serious accident; regular mopping and floor treatments to help keep out moisture will be highly beneficial to your office space.
Carpet
Just like hard surface flooring, carpets are subject to damage from the winter elements. You should aim to hoover all carpets much more regularly over winter as the fibres will trap grit, gravel and salt that have been trudged in from the streets. Not only that, you should make sure to have appropriate entrance mats in place at the front door as your 'first line of defence.'
Disinfect
Last but not least, it is highly important that you keep your office clean, free of germs and be sure to disinfect consistently to help prevent the flu and other germs from spreading! In total, 16.4 million days were lost to sickness absence in 2014/15. Be sure that the disinfectant products used in your office are environmentally friendly and non-toxic/harmful. Be sure not to miss things like doorhandles, office supplies cupboards, computers, keyboards and all communal work surfaces. Installing antibacterial gel dispensers in the bathroom or kitchen is a great way to help reduce germs from spreading around the office.
